4:37 AM News

4:37 AM

Explosions illuminate from the south, all at once ignite
The death of an actor, well past his prime
As dreadlock’d bands whisper “peace” to the night
the gentle metronomic bells keep time

True to yourself, remain always so
Ukulele music hints to the smile
Stars wink beside rainbows aglow
As soldiers stand rank and file

Ancient redwoods stand erect
as flames swallowed the land
unsung heroes seek to subject
to protect and make their stand

Running the animals, people harmed
who, truly, is the real beast?
Those cruelly kept and farmed
seeing death only, unreleased?

Truly, all we seek is freedom
the new fashionable belief?
From oppression applied most cruelly
all that’s wanted, a small relief

Three million mile cars driven
upon the expressway to construction
these fossil fuels eagerly given
a most destructive seduction

Do greed and mistrust prevail?
The agent steals from another
lies, cheats, he hides behind the veil
maintaining delusions of grandeur

He seeks the comfort of another
whose favors are not for sale
he dares to press further
will he meet success, or just fail?
