Nature's True Gift

Nature's True Gift

How to describe what you are
the call of something wild
like a wolf crying to the moon
the call of freedom

the ocean spans the globe
ever caressing the shore
sometimes harsh, sometimes gentle
always true, to self and others

Do I call you love?
the feeling within the chest
capturing your moments of solitude;
together, nature-blessed

Peers young and old speak of you
though some seek to capture you
I seek your warm embrace
my love, my freedom

Placing yourself, oh freedom
you, a friend to all, they seek you
these places, many more, too
have known your presence

Do I indeed seek you as they do?
Are these feelings of truth, no vanity
No ego, or am I deceived?
I fear the true answer.

Others will love you as I do,
Others have loved you as I do,
With equal respect and yearning
What came of these, past and future?

This call of the wild
at once natural yet foreign to me
what answer can I find to satiate
this call to be free?

To cast away your shackles
bonds which bind you down
without insult as to your self power
yet show that I, indeed, care.

One not needing safety
strong on your own, self-determined
yet my instinct does call me
action of protection, guardian

I seek your company, oh freedom
the road before is an exciting one
natural and artificial wonders, behold
together, more special, shared sight

Take my hand, share my embrace
I seek nothing more, when you’re ready
walk side by side with me
we’ll journey along together
my love, oh freedom
