Loving Mind
The eyes of a true angel,
not unlike those that bore her.
at times indeed most painful,
wanting most to be near her.
None can know the hardship,
faced with such decision
though admired more for it
a better choice of reason.
Divorcing pride and emotion
firm form upon the ramparts
a vigilance of pure devotion
this guardian of the hearts.
So very few allowed at your side
asking not for help or hand
keeping yourself quite inside
a moated and chasmed land
Not unlike a rock or island
keeping things inside and out
where all but a few are banned
from knowing what it is about
There are those that love you, dear
in whatever capacity, rightly defined;
know that those away and near
keep you and yours in loving mind.
